Our approach to energy efficiency...

We like to keep this as simple and transparent as possible and have developed a clear step-by-step process to deliver energy savings for our clients.

Take a look at our Key Principles section to see what the data looks like and how we use this to identify inefficiencies.

The data extract
Key temperatures are logged typically at one-minute intervals for a minimum 24 hour period and extracted from the BEMS.

Outline analysis
From this data we will prepare an overview of the control strategy and illustrate the savings potential.

Control specification
AEC write up the necessary control parameters required to deliver the savings identified.

Implementation
Normally carried out by the incumbent systems house or M&E contractor to our specification. We use the existing contractors wherever possible so that they are involved in delivering the solution and can take ownership of it in the longer term; we also provide the necessary training. If we are required to carry out the implementation this is not a problem.

Post implementation analysis
From a similar set of data logs to 1 (above) we prepare a before and after report identifying the savings achieved. At this stage setpoint parameters are fine tuned to extract those last percentage points of savings.

We will maintain contact with you and your building to ensure that the savings are being maintained into the long term. This may include carrying out degree-day analysis on the site energy consumption before and after with energy data supplied directly from your system or energy provider. Naturally, we have access to all the UK’s degree-day data.
